Designer Statement

Becoming an excellent designer is my ultimate goal, and I understand that it requires 10,000 hours of hard work. Therefore, I am currently attending school and investing my free time in designing, evolving with the market, and growing my skills. I believe that contributing my time to design is essential since we do not have an abundance of it. Before pursuing my passion, I used to work outside laying concrete and in hot kitchens, so I am grateful for the opportunity and the amazing professors who have prepared me for the real world.

Stimulating design work involves creating brands, working on UI/UX, developing products, and marketing and promotions. I am looking forward to collaborating with individuals who can bring out the best in me and help me fulfill their design needs. Despite the obstacles, I have dedicated my time, done the work, and hustled through it. I consider the design discipline worth the sacrifices and am confident that I have bet on myself and succeeded.

I want to work with individuals who bring the best ideas out of me for their design needs. I took my time, did the work, and hustled through it. Strategizing through the obstacles. Influences

Virgil Abloh

I have been following Virgil Abloh’s career since he launched his first brand, Hood by Air. I was impressed by how he gained a loyal customer base by screen-printing his brand on Hanes t-shirts and charging premium prices for them. Abloh truly understands the power of branding and marketing. His success made me realize the importance of designing for a specific audience. Abloh went on to create his own brand, “Off-White,” and became the creative director of the major fashion house, Louis Vuitton. It all started with Abloh’s degree in architecture, which has roots in many aspects of design.

Yoon Ahn

As a graphic design student, I often ponder about the different avenues my talents can explore. Yoon Ahn, a graphic design student from the University of Boston, ventured into clothing and jewelry design, inspiring me to broaden my horizons. Ahn is now the founder of Ambush and creates an array of impressive designs. Despite her proficiency in various design mediums, I believe she remains committed to her design discipline. For me, owning one’s creative direction is the ultimate goal for any professional who is willing to take risks for their design discipline.

Jugendstil

Jugendstil was an artistic movement that emerged in Germany in the late 1800s. It was led by artists such as Koloman Moser, Otto Eckman, August Endell, among others. They popularized Art Nouveau and were influenced by the ideas of John Ruskin, William Morris, and other prominent figures. Their aim was to promote a less commercialized way of life and advocate for simple living standards. What I find intriguing about this movement is the focus on using natural materials to create human-made structures. The illustrations are also impressive and caught my attention the most. I believe that the simple yet natural feeling of this type of design is timeless and can still appeal to today’s audience.

Art Deco

I came to appreciate Art Deco after analyzing the movement in my spare time. It was a significant style in the United States, seen in the grand buildings of New York and the futuristic archives of art and design. I believe that Art Deco is an excellent choice for my designs due to its simplicity, symmetry, and consistent repetition of elements. These are the features that I admire in this particular style of design.
